AppiaPay terms of service
These terms would govern personal use of the AppiaPay wallet. Businesses using Appia Gateway are covered by separate merchant terms.
1. Who we are
Appiawave (RC 1787250), 16B Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. Appiawave operates in partnership with licensed financial institutions. Bank rails are provided by Providus Bank and Globus Bank.
2. Your wallet
AppiaPay provides a naira wallet. From Tier 2 you are issued a dedicated account number in your own name; single-use account numbers are available at any tier. Funds credit your wallet when the bank settles them. The Electronic Money Transfer Levy, where applicable, is shown as a separate line.
3. Verification tiers
Per-transaction ceilings apply by tier: Tier 1 (email and phone) ₦50,000; Tier 2 (adds BVN) ₦5,000,000 and a dedicated account number; Tier 3 (adds NIN and address) no per-transaction ceiling. We may require verification before permitting a transaction.
4. Transfers and fees
Transfers to another Appia username are free. Transfers to a Nigerian bank account are free for the first three transfers of ₦5,000 or less in a day; thereafter ₦15 up to ₦5,000, ₦25 up to ₦50,000, and ₦55 above, capped at ₦55. The receiving account name is resolved and shown to you before you confirm. You are responsible for confirming that name.
5. Bills
Appiawave charges no service fee on bill payments. Meter and smartcard numbers are verified and the registered customer name shown before payment. Where a provider fails to deliver, the payment is reversed to your wallet.
6. Card
The Appiawave Verve card spends from your wallet balance. The first three card transactions each month carry no Appia fee; thereafter ₦50 per transaction. You may freeze and unfreeze the card in-app. [FOR COUNSEL] — loss, theft and unauthorised-use liability.
7. Escrow
Where you use escrow, funds leave the buyer's balance and are held until the buyer releases them. Either party may raise a written dispute for adjudication by our team. Commission is 1.5% per side, minimum ₦100. [FOR COUNSEL] — the legal character of the hold, the adjudication standard, and finality.
8. Investments
Fixed-term plans state the return and tenor before you subscribe. Returns accrue daily. Payout at maturity is automatic and without penalty. Tier 1 subscriptions are capped at ₦100,000. [FOR COUNSEL] — this section describes a product that may fall within securities or investment regulation. It requires specific regulatory review before publication, including whether it may be offered at all and what risk disclosures are mandatory.
9. Security
A four-digit transaction PIN is required for every money movement. Three incorrect attempts lock the wallet until our team unlocks it. Debits cannot take your balance below zero. Unusual inbound payments may be held for review, and funds sent to an unknown account are returned to the sender. You are responsible for keeping your PIN and device secure.
10. Liability, suspension, termination, governing law
[FOR COUNSEL] — deliberately unwritten. Consumer protection obligations under Nigerian law apply here and must be drafted by a qualified practitioner.
